Leandro Vieira, a 2nd degree Black Belt, is the youngest of the legendary Vieira Brothers (Leo, Ricardo, and Leandro Vieira).
Leandro started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the young age of 5 and has now over 25 years of experience. He is a co-founder and highly regarded as one of the top instructors of team Checkmat. His ability to teach and break down each technique is very unique and highly sought after by many throughout the world.
He has won medals at IBJJF Championships such as the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, Brazilian Nationals, Paulista Regionals, Las Vegas Open and Submission Ink Grappling Tournament. He is one of the head coaches at American Kickboxing Academy (AKA), where top MMA fighters such as Cain Velasquez train.
Chris Gutierrez is an avid competitor, but an even more passionate coach in Jiu-Jitsu. A black belt instructed under Leandro Vieira of the Vieira Brothers, Chris has 15 years of solid training and teaching the gentle art. With the mindset that learning never stops, Chris continues to hone and perfect his game to constantly perform at the highest level.
Jiu-Jitsu is a lifestyle that should be available to all, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level.
His most recent accomplishments among many include placing GOLD at the 2012 Copa Pacifica Championship, 2011 IBJJF Las Vegas International Open, and 2012 IBJJF Las Vegas International Open, SILVER at the 2012 No-Gi Worlds, and BRONZE at the 2011 IBJJF No Gi Worlds, 2012 Long Beach Spring Open and 2013 Las Vegas International Open.
Born in California, raised in Guam, Vince Quitugua better known as “Bear” has always had a strong passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1999. He has created the DVD called “Secrets of the Half Guard”, which is one of his favorite and most technical positions he plays.
Jiu-Jitsu has changed my life in a positive way and so many others around me. If you give it a chance I know for a fact it will change yours as well.
He enjoys teaching techniques in any and all positions, whether it’s for self-defense or for the sport aspect of it. Bear lives, breathes and thinks Jiu-Jitsu… it’s not his sport of choice, it’s his lifestyle.
Justin McDermott lives a very active lifestyle and his weekly exercise routine consist of weight training, cardio, and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Justin has over 7 years of experience training BJJ and has now gained a different perspective of the art.
I am touched when I hear several stories of our Conde Koma mini tigers’ progression in life after starting their journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It’s amazing how BJJ can change our lives.
He finds the little details in techniques and positions very critical and loves to share this knowledge with the students. His passion and dedication to the gentle art is so great that he and his entire family are daily practitioners. He is most proud of his greatest blessings, his son, already a 5x World Champion and on the path to many more accomplishments, and daughter who will soon be joining them on the mats.
